It all started back in 1966, Gary Marder was 12 years old when his parents enrolled him in judo classes with Doc. Ugada in
    Woodmere.L.I. , New York.  Took
Judo from 1966-1967. in the summer of 1969 while attending a sports camp he took up boxing, in upstate New York. Now in
    High School Gary joined
the varsity wrestling team of Lawrence High in New York. The next year started karate lessons in Jido-Kwon with Sensei Murray
    Cole who was trained by
    C. K. Kim in New York. Trained in Jido-Kwon from 1970 through 1973, while training in one style Gary learned others. Semsei
Cole was also trained at the well known Tang Dojo under Sensei Tom LaPuppett and George Coffeild, untill brown belt then
switched to Jido-Kwon he told Gary to learn from all styles and form
his own. 1971 through 1975 he trainrd on and off with Art McConnell in Shotakan first in Cedarhurst, L.I. New York then in Glen
Cove L.I. New York. In between
1972 through 1973 Gary trained in Florida under Steven Beettei, who traind with John Pacivas , in the style of Goju-Ryu Before
that he trained in Aikido under Bruce DeBorn in Oceanside, L.I. New York for one year 1971. From 1974 through 1976 Gary
trained in korean style Moo-Duk-Kwon Tang Soo-Do under Jeff
Shaperio where he finally acheived Black Belt. 1976 Gary trained with former world P.K.A. Champion Joe Lewis, that was a
    turning event in Gary's life.
Gary Marder opened his first Dojo in the west village on Sheridan Square from 1976 through 1978. From 1978 through 1981 Gary
ran the Brooklyn Dojo on the intersection of Flatbush Ave. And Bedford Ave.,from there from 1981 through 1985 he took over the
old Brooklyn Boxing Gym on 18th, Ave. and 65th st. above the Walker Movie Thearter.
Gary trained for free platoons of Gardian Angels, religous groups, handycapt people for years. Gary trained young fighters who
grew up and fought for the world heavyweight title as boxers and kickboxers. 1985 through 1992 Gary trained his fighters at
world class gyms like Gleasons in Brooklyn,Kingsway Boxing in New York. Now at 51 years of age teaching since 1970 I belive
the knowledge Gary has is plentyfull. Specializing in teaching fighters to win in the ring is his talent.
Still sparring, holding pads, just watching him move in the ring is a wonder.
